Lawrence Elementary School, located in Arvada, began in 1900 as
the "Arvada School," the town's first high school. It was renamed
Lawrence Elementary in 1955.
Timeline of Lawrence Elementary
1900: The school was established in Olde Town Arvada at Zephyr and
Grandview. It served as the city's first two-story schoolhouse and
initially offered high school classes.
1920: The Arvada School was
converted into a grade school after a permanent high school was
constructed.
1955: The name was officially changed to Lawrence
Elementary School. By this time, the original building was an elementary
school.
Today: The school operates as a neighborhood elementary
school within the Jefferson County Public Schools district. Its long
history has made it a local landmark in Olde Town Arvada
