Yuma Pioneer September 22, 1955

The mid-air crash of two jet planes brought about the death of Lieutenant Ralph Van Horn, former Yuma lad, last Sunday.

Van Horn, age 30, was a jet pilot in the National Guard unit at Cheyenne, Wyoming. His home was Fort Collins. Although living in Fort Collins, Mr. Van Horn had spent much of his time in Yuma. He attended grade school at the Brand school and high school at Waverly.

Funeral services will be held Thursday September 22 at the Presbyterian Church in Yuma. Interment will be made in the Yuma Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, La Donna; two sons, Mark and Danny; one daughter, Cheryl Ann; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Van Horn of Eckley; two brothers, Marvin and Dale of Yuma and four sisters, Velma Stutteville of Wray, Elizabeth Southwell of Denver, Manona Moore of Yuma and Evelyn Stover of Denver. One brother, Eugene, preceded him in death.
