Wray Gazette - July 20, 1944

A telegram from the Adjutant General Monday to Mrs. Ida P. Ackelson reported the death of her husband, Sgt. Homer J. Ackelson, on March 4 over Yugoslavia.

He was employed as machine operator at the Wray theatre before he began his Army training in October 1942. After his training he was assigned as a radio gunner to a bomber crew and served in North Africa and Italy.

Besides his wife, who is employed at the local rationing office, he is survived by a son, Jon David, who was a year old last December 22.
