"Seneca S. Seymore died at the Larned State Hospital on Thursday, Aug. 17, 1922,
aged 74 years, 4 months and 17 days. Funeral services were held Sunday from the Haag chapel,
and were conducted by Rev. J. J. Via, pastor of the Baptist church.
Burial was in Larned cemetery.
Mr. Seymore was born in Buffalo, N. Y., May 30, 1851. He came west in young manhood and
was married to Miss Kate Briscoe of Little River, Kan., at which place they had made their
home since. He was one of nine children, all of whom preceded him except one sister,
Mrs. Wheaton of Topeka, Kansas. "

" Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock Rev. Charles Coke Woods spoke the words which united
in marriage Miss Emma Seymore and Mr. Morris Salter. The ceremony took place at the home of
the bride's mother, Mrs. Harriet Seymore, at Bavaria, in the presence
of relatives and a few friends. The bride, who was gowned in cream net
over taffeta silk, was attended by Miss Amelia Swartz, dressed in light blue shadow silk.
Ed Sheldon, of Ellsworth, was best man. After congratulations a three-course wedding
breakfast was served. The bride was presented with a number of pretty and appropriate gifts.
Mr. and Mrs. Salter left shortly after the ceremony for Omaha, where they visit with
relatives a short time, and then go to their home at Bancroft Nebr.,
wher6 the groom is proprietor of a drug store.
For a number of years the bride has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. C. Post,
and has won many friends by her sweet disposition and charming manners.
She is a beautiful young lady and will make friends wherever she goes. "

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Methodist church
for M. S. Salter, a respected citizen of this community since 1918, who died in
a Greeley hospital Sunday at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 28 days. Rev. K. Orlando
Lee officiated at the service with interment at Grandview cemetery.
Mr. Salter had been in failing health for some time and recently sold his business here.
His condition had been serious for the past few weeks and he was removed to Greeley for
treatment.
The deceased was born in Shelby County, lowa, on October 7, 1870. He grew to manhood
in lowa and married Miss Emma Seymour on September 25, 1907. The couple lived in
Iowa for twelve years and then came to Yuma County where they farmed for fifteen years.
Since that time they have made their home in Wray.
Those who survive include the widow, Mrs. Emma Salter; the children,
Clayton Salter of Englewood, John Salter of Brush, Mrs. Vera Smith of Richmond, Calif.,
Russell Salter of Eckley, Clifford Salter of Salina, Kan.,
Donald Salter of Englewood, Mrs. Lois DeVore of Wray, Mrs. Thelma Milligan of Springfield,
and twenty grandchildren. A brother, Charley Salter of Council Bluffs, lowa, also survives.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
Mr. Salter was a kind and loving husband and father and will be sincerely missed
by his family and friends. Among his friends he numbered most of the youngsters of the
community who had been his customers during the years he was the town’s pop-corn man."

June 1940 "The Reserve Class of the Methodist church entertained at a very lovely Bridal Shower for Miss Lois Salter, at •the home of Mrs. Floyd Garton, on Friday afternoon. A delicious dessert course was served at two o’clock. Table decorations were in a color scheme of pink, green, and white, with a beautiful centerpiece of pink roses. Miss Salter was presented with many lovely and useful gifts, and the afternoon was spent in a social way. Invited guests were: Mesdames Morris Salter, Fred Parshall, Alwyn Hawks, Willard Bingham, M. M. Fisk, Phil Price, Claude Prentice, George Akey, John Cassin, Floyd Garton, Wm. Nichols, Hans Christensen. and Wm. Brown. June 20, 1940 "Miss Lois Arlene Salter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Salter, of Wray, became the bride of Mr. Perry Donald Devore, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. DeVore, of the Vernon community on Sunday, June 16. The ceremony was preformed at the Methodist Church parsonage, at 8:15 a. m., by Rev. Wm. Brown. Only close relatives of -the bridal couple witnessed the ceremony. Maid of honor was Miss Margie DeVore, sister of the bridegroom. Mr. Donald Salter, brother of the bride, was best man. Other guests were Mrs. M. S. Salter, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. DeVore, and Pershing DeVore, brother of the groom. Mrs. DeVore was a very lovely bride in a two-tone blue silk suit with multi-color accessories. Her corsage of lillies-of-the-valley and myrtle was in the exact shades of her suit. Th e bridegroom was attired in a dark business suit. The maid of honor wore a beautiful afternoon dress of pink sheer and a corsage of pink rosebuds and sweetpeas. The best man wore a dark business suit. Immediately following the ceremony, the newlyweds left for a week’s honeymoon in Denver and ¦the mountains. Mr. and Mrs. DeVore will make their home in the Roush property on East Fifth Street, here in Wray. We understand that Mr. DeVore plans to continue at the Heindel Motor Co., where he is a valued employee. Mrs. DeVore graduated from 'the Yuma County High School with the class of ’39, and for thrr year, has been employed in the County Superintendent’s office. Her pleasant disposition and charming smile have gained for her many friends, during the years she has resided in Wray. The bridegroom has spent the greater part of his life in the Vernon community and is well known and admired in both that community and in Wray. The Gazette extends congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. DeVore."
December 1953 "Mrs. W. H. Nichols, who recently fell and fractured her pelvis and a leg bone, is now at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. S. Salter. A son, John Seymour, and wife of Phoenix, Ariz., who came to see her, are remaining to assist with her care. Mrs. Nichols is 89 years of age."

September 1937 "Miss Vera Salter was married Saturday night, Sept. 4 to Mr. Darrell Smith,
at San Jose, Calif. The San Jose Mercury Herald printed the following account of the wedding:
Saturday night at 8:30 o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Smith,
622 North Twenty-first street, Miss Vera Salter became the bride of Darrell Smith.
The Rev. Nettie Roll officiated at the simple but lovely ceremony. The bride wore a gray ensemble and
carried a bouquet of pink roses. She is from Wray, Colorado. The bride was attended by
Miss Rosina Sanelli and the bridegroom had as his attendant Frank Travasso.
Refreshments were served after the ceremony, which was attended by relatives of the bride
and bridegroom. The bride and bridegroom are to reside in San Jose."

April 1953 "Mrs. M. S. Salter returned home Tuesday evening from spending a month in Springfield, Ohio, where a son, Clifford Salter, resides. "
December 1957 "Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Salter of Denver had the misfortune of losing their
year-old daughter, Viola Joyce, who expired Monday, Nov. 25, at her home in Denver.
The father had just given the tot a bath when death came, attributed to a blood clot in the
heart. The baby was one year old on November 5 and is survived by her parents and a
two-year-old brother. She was the 38th grandchild of Mrs. M. S. Salter of Wray.
Services were held at the Bullock Mortuary on Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Harvey Springer.
Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Salter was accompanied to Denver by her daughter and husband,
Mr. and Mrs. Perry DeVore, who returned home that evening."

Kathryn "Katie" Ruby Salter, 78, of Akron, died Aug. 29, 2002, in Fort Morgan. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today, Sept. 3, at United Methodist Church in Akron with the Rev. Karen Hurst officiating. Burial was at Akron Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Brenner Funeral Home.
Mrs. Salter was born Oct. 27, 1923, to Robert and Inda (Stecker) Twiss in Wray.
In June 1940 she married Donald Salter. He worked for Mountain Bell, and, they lived in several towns in Colorado, finally settling in Englewood. She worked for J.C. Penny Co., Swayder Brothers Luggage and finally for Mountain Bell for 17 years.
After retirement they spent time between Mesa, Ariz., and Colorado, until her husband's health forced them to return to the Denver area.
She made her home with her sister after her husband died. She taught knitting and crocheting to disadvantaged girls.
Mrs. Salter is survived by daughters -Barbara Jane and Patsy Kaye; son Ronald Bruce; sister Louise Barnhart, Akron; brother Howard Twiss, Otis; five grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson Shohn; sisters Opal, Ruth and Doris; and brothers Rex and Edward."

June 1943
December 1952 "T/Sgt. and Mrs. Raymond F. Milligan, former residents of Wray, have returned to the United States following the sergeant’s completion of a year’s tour of duty with the U. S. Air Force in the Philippines. Mrs. Milligan, the former Thelma J. Salter, is the daughter of Mrs. Emma Salter, also of Wray. The Milligans departed from Manila early in December aboard the General E. D. Patrick. They are scheduled to arrive in San Francisco the 24th of this month after which the sergeant will report to Detachment, 1, 2354th Personnel Processing Squadron at Fort Mason, Calif., for his discharge from military service. While in the Philippines, Sergeant Milligan served with the 14th Communications Squadron, Thirteenth Air Force on Clark Air Force Base, 60 miles north of Manila. Joining the service in December of 1952, he saw his first overseas assignment in the European theater of from October 1944 through March 1946. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Milligan of Longmont."

Mona Salter, 90, of Brashear, Misouri passed away Sunday May 6, 2007 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
The daughter of Lafeyette E. and Elizabeth (Gleason) Coffman, Mona was born April 29, 1917 in Eckley, Colorado. On March 3, 1941 in Kimble, Nebraska she was united in marriage to Russell Lee Salter who preceded her in death on August 3, 1993. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Jay and Jess Coffman.
Mona is survived by her eight children, Morris and Judy Salter of Richmond, MO, Wauneta and Frank Smith of Greenville, South Carolina, Raymond and Joyce Salter of Brashear, Missouri, Joyce Metke of Manteno, Illinois, Wayne and Suzy Salter of Huxley, Iowa, Jim and Judy Salter of Ashland, Missouri, Larry Salter and Belinda Ames of Brashear, Missouri and Lonnie and Kim Salter of Brashear, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Mona was reared in Eckley, Colorado where she attended school. After her marriage, Mona and Rusell farmed in the Eckley area and then in 1953 moved to a farm east of Brashear in 1953. They retired in 1975. Mona was a loving mother and grandmother. She was known in Brashear for making delicious cinnamon rolls and bread. Mona was a member of the Brashear United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday May 10, 2007 at the Brashear United Methodist Church with Rev. Beryl Cragg and John Smith officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens."
Raymond Salter, 68 of Brashear, MO passed away Thursday February 4, 2016 in Tampa, FL.
The son of Russell and Mona (Coffman) Salter, he was born August 3, 1947 in Wray, Colorado.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Joyce Salter (Rager); loving father of Kurtis Salter and wife Megan of Prospect, KY, Travis Salter and wife Laura of Des Peres, MO, Meghan Pinkerton (Salter) and husband Corey of San Antonio, TX. Loving PaPa of Grayson, Brecken, Lily, Emma and Murphy. Dear sibling of Morris (Judy) Salter of Richmond, MO, Wuaneta (Frank) Smith of Greenville, SC, Joyce Metke of Buorbonnais, IL, Wayne (Suzie) Salter of Huxley, Iowa, Jim (Judy) Salter of Ashland, MO, Larry Salter (Belinda Ames) of Brashear, MO and Lonnie (Kim) Salter of Brashear, MO and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Mona Salter.
A graduate of Brashear High School in 1965, an electrician, a mentor, farmer, conservationist, and ultimate handyman. Raymond was a member of Brashear United Methodist Church, Brashear School Board member, and Brashear School Volunteer. He was always the first to lend a helping hand no matter how big a project.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (February 11, 2016) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Nancy Douglas officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
