Ezra G. and Anna (Books) Wissler, Eckley



Ezra G. Wissler was born April 25, 1882 in Lancaster County to Franklin K. and Emma (Kachel) Wissler.

In 1900 Lancaster County, Frank Wissler 48 is farming, Emma Wissler 45 Wife, Ezra Wissler 18 Son, Nora Wissler 13 Daughter, Lottie Wissler 10 Daughter, Laura Wissler 7 Daughter, Sam'l Groff 52 Boarder, and J. W. Gardner 59 Boarder.

Ezra is farming with his father in 1910, and all the girls are gone.

Ezra Garfield Wissler registered for WWI in Lancaster County, farming by himself, with Emma as his nearest relative..

1916

Ezra proved up 240 acres in 32, 2N 45W in 1918. Witnesses were Charles J. Yenter, John Hackworth, August C. Yenter, and Charles laFrance.
C.J. Yenter owned that land in 1920.

The Yenter land was a couple of miles north.

In 1920 Lancaster County, Frank Books is 79, Elizabeth Books 74 Wife, Harry S. Books 35 Son, Galen J. Books 34 Son, Annie S. Books 32 Daughter, and Catharine Books 3 Granddaughter.

EZRA AND ANNA

Ezra married Anna S. Book on April 28, 1927 in Quarryville.

In 1930 Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Ezra G. Wisster 47 is farming, Anna S. Wisster 42 Wife, Catharine Wisster 13 Daughter, and Emma E. Wisster 0 Daughter. All were born in Pennsylvania.

Ezra was delinquent on taxes for three lots in Eckley in 1931.

1991 "Emma Wissler Rhoads of Pennsylvania called inquiring about her father, Ezra Wissler, born 1882, had a small store in Eckley about 1920.

Emma W. Rhoades, 91, of Lititz, passed away on June 16, 2020. Born in Colerain Twp., she was the daughter of the late Ezra and Anna (Book) Wissler.
She was married to the late William J. Rhoades who died in 1993.
Emma was a long-time resident of Southern Lancaster County until she moved to the Brethren Village Retirement Community in 2003. She graduated from Colerain High School. Emma was employed at Lancaster County Board of Assistance for 20 years and served in several positions in various community agencies. Emma was instrumental in establishing the Food Bank, now called Solanco Neighborhood Ministries, which still exists today, serving the needs of families in the Solanco Area. Emma also served as secretary of the South East Health Center and was a member of Wesley Church in Quarryville. She served on several committees including co-chairman of the Wesley Historical Society, along with Donald Ridley.
Emma is survived by 6 children: William Jr., husband of Judy of Fort Mills, S.C.; Robert G., husband of Pamela of Neffsville; Cathryn A. Grace of Lancaster; Cynthia J., wife of Kenneth F. Kametz of Lancaster; Barry L., husband of Dottie of Pequea; and Bruce F., husband of Caroline of Mt. Joy. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Katherin Rittenhouse.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Quarryville Cemetery
