Edward and Martha Salisbury, Laird

In 1900 Haigler, Nebraska Edward D. 52 and Martha J. 40 have Pearl C. 19, Claud W. 15, Mary A. 12 - these three kids born in Iowa, Harold B 5, Mildred E. 4 and Raymond - ten months.

1902

In 1910 Laird precinct Edward D. is 62, Indiana, with Martha J. 50, Illinois, Harold 16, and Raymond 11 - both boys born in Nebraska.

In 1920 Laird precinct Edward is 73, Martha 62, Harold 26, Ramond 21, and Laretta L?ng, 4, granddaughter.

Edward D. Salisbury was a private in Co D, 12th Indiana Cavalry, and died May 12, 1924, buried in Grandview, Wray.60289044

Martha Jane - March 11, 1859 - March 10, 1954 is also buried in Grandview.

HAROLD

Harold B. Salisbury 1895-1936 is buried in Grandview.63202101

1917

In 1920 Laird precinct Harold is 36, married to Ella M. 26, and nephew Harold M. Bingham, 8, is with them.

"Harold Salisbury, brother of Mrs. Otis Ashwood died Friday, January 24, at Wray, Colo., from injuries sustained in an auto accident January 19.  Mr. Salisbury had previously worked for Mr. Ashwood and had many acquaintances here who regret to hear of his death.  Burial took place Tuesday of last week at Wray.  Mr. and Mrs. Ashwood and family and Ralph Pollard attended the funeral."

In 1940 Ella is in Sterling, widowed, with Benton H. 8. - nephew Harley E. Holt 33, is with them.

CLAUDE

Claude Wray Salisbury registered in Bettendorf, Iowa, saying he was born Dec 2, 1885, was a carpenter, and nearest relative was  Mrs. Grace Salisbury of Bettendorf.

When he registered for WWII, he said he was born Dec 2, 1884 in Creston, Iowa.

1909 "Mr. and Mrs. Chas Mealey were the guests of Claud Salisbury's north of Laird Sunday."

1909 "Mrs. Grace Salisbury returned to her home in Denver Friday accompanied by Miss Mildred Salisbury who will remain for an indefinite time."

1909 "Mrs. Grace Salisbury of Denver was called to the bedside of her mother, Mrs. Goodman, who is seriously ill.  We hope for her speedy recovery."  " to be at the bedside of her mother, Mrs. John Goodman, who is not expected to live."

1912 "Word has been received that there is a little girl at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Salisbury at Montrose, Colorado on the 5th of May."

In 1920 Davenport, Iowa Claude is 35, Grace 29, with Albertina 11 and Aleta 7.

In 1930 Linn County, Iowa Claude W. 45 is married to Sadie M. 43.  He's a building contractor.

Claude and Sadie are in Clackamas County Oregon in 1940.

When Claud registered for WWII in Ryberg, Oregon, he said Helen Conrad of Oregon City, would always know his address.

Claude died Dec 21, 1964 in Clackamas County

RAYMOND

In 1930 Wray precinct Raymond is 31, a garage mechanic, Della 25, with Alta Ray 5, Aaron F. 3, and Betty G. 1.

Della (Rose) Salisbury1904-1980 is buried in Marsing, Idaho., daughter of Hiram Rose-

Aaron F. Salisbury, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather returned to his Heavenly Father on 13 June, 2012. Until his death he lived at 4564 Thompson Road, Marsing, Idaho. He passed away after a short illness at the Veterans Hospital in Boise, Idaho.

He was born on April 4, 1926 in Wray, Colorado, a son of Raymond Clarence Salisbury and Della (Rose) Salisbury. He grew up in Wray until the family moved to Oregon in 1937. They moved to Idaho in 1940 where Raymond drew a Homestead south of Homedale.
Aaron is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Alta Dunn and Mrs. Betty Moore; brothers, James Salisbury, Raymond Salisbury and David Salisbury.
 

PEARL

July 1907 "Miss Pearl Salisbury of Laird, and Mr. C.E. Long of Haigler, were married Thursday at the court house, Judge J.S. Hendrie officiating."

1909 "Mildred Salisbury went to McCook Saturday to visit her sister, Mrs. Long."

1917 "Mrs. Clyde Long and children are visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. E.D. Salisbury."

 

Pearl Sampson 1881-1969 and Albert 1872-1940 are buried in Wray.

ALTA

In 1910 Alta M. is married to Frank Holt, and they're in Denver with Harley E. 2 and Theodore, six months.  sister Mildred Salisbury, 14 is living with them.

Frank, a house painter, 42, New York, and Alta M. 31, Iowa are in Chadron, Nebraska in 1920, with Harley E. 12, Theodore R. 10, Earl J. 8, Claud 6 - sons born in Colorado, Alice L. 4, and Richard R. 2, both born in Nebraska.

In 1930 Chadron Franklin E.  is 54, Alta 44, Harley E. 23, Claude R. 16, Alice R. 13, Richard R. 12, Doris L. 8, Lola M. 6, and Charles J. 4.

In 1940 Chadron Dorris L. is married to Keith Smith - runs a garage, and Richard Holt is a lubricator in a garage, living with them.

Alta is in Chadron in 1940, a seamstress, married but no spouse, with Lola May 16 and Charles 14.

Harley is with aunt Ella in 1940 Sterling.

MILDRED

July 1915 - Laird "A baby girl was born to Mr. O.T. Ashwood, Friday.  Mrs. Ashwood is at her mother's, Mrs. E. D. Salisbury."

In 1920 Otis T. Ashwood, 29 and Mildred E. 23 are in Perkins County, Nebraska, with Leona 4, Donald 2, Edward two months,

They're still in Perkins County in 1930 and 1940, but in 1955 are in Portland, Oregon, where Otis is a dishwasher.  Mildred died in Oregon.

Mildred 1896-1973 and Otis 1890-1961 Ashwood are buried in Grant, Nebraska 62000120

July 1919 "On Saturday George W. Bingham of Wray and Miss Hazel M. Salisbury of Laird were married in Wray at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Wolfe.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. J. D. Curtis."
