Jeanne (Shirley) Isham Scott passed away at Sheridan Memorial Hospital on April 10, 2008. She fought a long and valiant battle with cardiac and pulmonary complications and was an inspiration to us all. Her spirit was strong, but her heart was tired.
She was born on July 4, 1933, in Wray, Colo., to George and Ruth Isham. She grew up in Wray and attended Colorado State University, where she met and married Dan Scott, her husband for 54 years. Jeanne and Dan settled at their ranch on the Tongue River, east of Ranchester, where she excelled in being a ranch wife and mother extraordinaire to their five children. They later moved to their present home near Dayton, Wyo.
In addition to her many other responsibilities, Jeanne served as "gofer" for the Padlock Ranch. She spent many years as the ranch's emissary to local businesses in her capacity as parts runner. She drove to Sheridan almost every day to pick up needed parts, supplies and groceries, a position she proudly served for almost 35 years. Jeanne was forced to retire only recently and reluctantly due to health complications. She had many friends at the loading docks and checkout counters and cared for them all as she did her family.
Jeanne had a tremendous compassion for anyone's suffering and was always quick to volunteer her aid. She served as a great inspiration for her family and she will leave a tremendous emptiness in many lives. She was a member of many organizations and was an incredibly uncommon woman.
Jeanne was an only child and was preceded in , died by her parents and two cousins.
She leaves behind her husband, Dan; and her sons, Randy (Lynette) of Billings, Ron (Audra) of Sheridan; and daughters Riki Davidson of Parkman, Risa Scott of Orange, Calif., and Trink (Tom) Morss of Dayton; and faithful guard dog, Brie. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Geoffrey, Shad, Kayla, Shann and Devin Scott, Becca Davidson; and step-grandchildren, Luke Morss and Bailee Van Leuven.
