\Graduating Exercises

A crowd which taxed the capacity of the building assembled last evening at the court house to witness the graduating exercises, and that the audience was well pleased was shown by the applause which greeted each number on the program.  The high school orchestra rendered several selections which would have done credit to some professionals.  The essays by the three graduates - Mabel Lohman, Mary Ware and Walter Weller - showed deep study and a clear conception of the subjects in hand, and were greatly appreciated.  The reading of Lyrra Kennedy entitled "Bolivar Brown's Essay on Ants" was well received and created great laughter.  The piano trio by Hazel Cox, Norma Hedrick and Eva Gibbs, was a rare musical treat, and was heartily encored.  The vocal solo by Blanche Cunningham, and the singing of the High School Male Chorus were also appreciated.  Altogether the exercises reflected great credit on the pupils and teachers alike.
