Chester William Gebauer, 19, seaman first class in the United States Navy, was killed in action in the service of his country, according to a telegram received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Gebauer of southwest of Akron, last Friday.
Seaman Gebauer attended Akron High School for a short time a few years ago. Later, he was employed here in town by the Vance Hatchery for about eight months He was a very likeable, earnest young man, sincere in everything he did and his death is deeply regretted by all who knew him,
He is survived by his parents; six brothers, Wilfred, Robert. Alfred, Charles, Harold and Max, two sisters, Mrs. Warren Harper and Thelma Gebauer. Wilfred is an apprentice seaman in the navy, having been enlisted only a short time ago. Alfred is a corporal in the United States Marine Corps.
