The Burdett post office opened in 1888. The Burdett Cemetery was started in 1893 when the land for the cemetery was donated by Leonard and Celia Preston. Their daughter, Nora, is buried here.
The Burdett Cemetery is located on County Road 55, fifteen miles north of Otis, and one half mile east of Colorado Highway 61.

A "Location?" note is in the remarks column for three local residents (John Ireland, McGee Infant, and John Shackley) who were probably buried at Burdett. However, their death notices did not specify a burial location, and they have no surviving marker.
