San Miguel County

San Miguel County, Colorado, established in 1883, is a region defined by its rugged mining history and transition to world-class tourism, centered around the town of Telluride. Initially inhabited by Ute Native Americans, the area saw a massive silver and gold boom in the 1870s-80s, followed by a decline until the 1970s, when it transformed into a ski and festival destination.
