Yesterday Hohlt Koehn visited another abandoned
schoolhouse site. The abandoned Aspen Grove Schoolhouse. This beautiful brick
schoolhouse, nestled among the trees, has long been deserted. Yet, it still
stands as a quiet testament to Colorado’s early educational institutions and the
communities that once thrived around them. |

August 1, 1968 (page 5), with a caption reading: "Aspen's Finest, all 10 of
them, turn out for the camera with ears scrubbed and brass polished. Left to
right are Chief Marion Scott, Sgt. Ray Drehobl, Greg Holmbeck, Dick Ritchey,
Gary Wall, Alvin Zimmer, Jim Rozine, Ron Halbert, Joe Lee, and Steve
Anticevich." (Aspen Historical Society, Aspen Illustrated News Collection) |
