February 1911 Sterling " Mrs. Joel Lee is quite sick at her home in the Kelsey neighborhood southweat of Sterling, and has been unable to lie down for more than two weeks, owing to the condition of her heart. Mrs. Lee is 81 years old."

June 6, 1913 McCook "Eventual death cams to relieve the suffering of two in this city have trsveled through life together, and join them. in a long illness Joel T. Lee, died in the General Hospital where he has been cared for during the past five weeks, and his wife, who has been at his side during that same time at the home of their son, James Lee, followed him. The marriage vows given over 67 years to cleave to each other until death should part them were truly and faithfully kept, and the parting only of a very short time. Joel Taylar Lee, was born in Camden, New Jerseyn November 11, 1832. When a small boy his parents moved westward to Paimyra, Michigan. April, 1896., He then bought a farm at Kalamazoo County and moved to it, and which is now located the town of Leesboro. Jtorerses in businesa led him to move west about twenty-six years later to a homestead, west of Sterling through which now the Cheyenne branch of the Smilfng-ton. There they lived until last March, when Joseph P. died suddenly. They came to make, their home with James I. Lee. Joel has been failing in health the past three years."
