Kremmling 1942 Town Square

Fifty Years Ago
Aug. 24, 1944 — The annual Flower Show and Victory
Garden display which was sponsored by the Kremmling Woman's Club was
held in the Town Hall on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 16.
Mrs. Fred
Reynolds, president of the Kremmling Woman's Club welcomed those present
and Mrs. Horace Brown presented the program which included singing and
instrumental music by various people.
Many prizes and awards were
given in flower and vegetable classes and there was a contest category
called Better Yards and Gardens. The most attractive yard belonged to
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Shepherd with honorable mention going to Mr. and Mrs.
G.W. Payne and Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Esmiol winning for Most Improved Yard.

Fifty Years Ago
March 23, 1944 — Some time ago Fred Reynolds of
Grand County Transportation, in talking of Kremmling's need for a fire
truck, made the remark that he had a pretty fair 1936 truck that he
would give to the town if they would go ahead and fix it up in good
shape for a fire truck. This generous offer was promptly relayed to the
village council, where it was accepted with deep appreciation and work
started almost immediately to put it in shape for its new job.
Dan
Hoare built the body and hose rack, Kremmling Motors replaced broken
glass, etc. and Jameson Chevrolet gave the whole outfit a paint job,
featuring the "reddest" red that a fire truck ever wore anywhere.
Marshal C. H. Van Pelt was active in promoting the project all along,
and now is rightfully proud of his "new red wagon." The community owes a
great deal of thanks to Mr. Reynolds for his fine donation and to all
those who have helped to put the outfit in shape for service as a fire
truck. Why not go right ahead now and organize a volunteer fire
department and get a reduction on our fire insurance rates?
