William Ainsworth who invented the Balancing Scales. In 1882 William had his watchmaking and balance shop at 248 16th st.. Several yrs later he had Watchmaker &: Mane'g Jeweler shop at 577 and 579 Lawrence St. This address became his factory for balances and then he moved to 2150 Lawrence William built 1,000 balances between 1880 and 1898. Later it was named The Ainsworth Balance Co. He also patented Brunton Pocket Transit. Around 1899 his sons, Robert and Albert joined him and he called it Ainsworth & Sons. He died in Jan. 1, 1917.

Elma Eastman from Lathrop Twp. Susquehanna Co. Pa. Her parents are George Kendall Eastman & Lydia A. Bissell from Susquehanna Co. Pa. She married William Ainsworth that invented the balancing scales in Denver, Co. They had 2 children, Robert and Albert.
