SYLVESTER VOYLES

Sylvester Hovey VOYLES, 79, retired mechanic employed for many years 
by the City of Delta, died Aug. 1 at Delta Memorial Hospital where he 
had been a patient since July 23.

Mr. Voyles came to Delta when he was ten years old and had served as 
City mechanic for 50 years.

Services have been set for 10:a.m. Saturday at Roberts Funeral Chapel.  
Burial will be in the Pea Green Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 5, 1888, at Tennison, Ind., and was married in March 
of 1946 to Emma T. Brown.

He is survived by his wife; a step-son, Sam Brown of Chicago; four 
step-daughters, Jessie B. Barron of Elkhard, ind., Ruby D. DeMars 
and Lameta Gunwall, both Everett, Wash., and Columbine Brown of 
Delta; and by eight grandchildren. 

Three brothers preceded him in death.
