Cheyenne County was part of Greenwood County in
1870. Kit Carson was the county seat of Greenwood.
Most of this census was taken in the vicinity of
Kit Carson town. |

- Elbert). Cheyenne County did not exist yet. The
area now in Cheyenne County was included in parts
of Bent and Elbert Counties in 1880. |
1890 U.S. Census - Cheyenne County |
This census was taken the year after Cheyenne County was created. Unfortunately, nearly the entire 1890 census was destroyed by in a 1921 fire at the National Archives. Some portions, such as the 1890 Veterans schedules survived. |
